SIRA is a unique and the last example of the well-known Oceanranger range from Westerly. Her hull was laid in 2000 at the Westerly factory in Waterlooville, Hampshire, UK. But, after Westerly’s collapse into administration her first owner had her moved to Meridian Trust where she was completed employing ex-Westerly staff and launched in 2002. The current owner (only SIRA’s second) has every one of the invoices resulting from the original build and a visit to her will testify to the fact that only the best equipment available at the time was used in her construction. The original build and the diligence with which she has been looked after since her launch allows us to say that SIRA is probably the best-looking and most up to date Oceanranger on the market currently.
Down below she is a dream of a modern take on the best of classic British yacht design. The teak work is exquisite both in the quality of material, the design and the workmanship – deeply atmospheric and wonderfully comforting. A wonderful place to spend a cosy evening.
My wife and I have owned her for 12 years. She has been cruised extensively throughout the UK including Orkney and Shetland having this year completed a 5 year circumnavigation of the UK. We have loved and respected her but are upgrading to an equally lovely Oyster 45.
So it is with great sadness that we are offering SIRA for sale but know that if the new owner continues the love, she will provide copious amounts of trustworthy safe adventures for many years to come.
SIRA is all ready and waiting to sail off on new adventures! Viewing is recommended to appreciate her fully.

The standard Oceanranger was fitted with a 27 bhp Volvo Penta which was often seen as underpowered but SIRA is fitted with a 39 bhp Yanmar which allows her to cruise quietly and comfortably at 2000 revs, sipping a mere 2 litres of diesel an hour and happily doing 6kns. Although no engine counter is fitted we estimate that she has done about 3,500 hours. The engine was completely overhauled over the winter 2024/25 and a full top end rebuild was carried out (photos available). She has her oil and filters changed each year despite having run for less than 200 hours over some summers.

Standing rigging replaced 2020. Sailplan is sloop with Selden mainsail reefing with roller reefing genoa. The sails are Hyde, made by Mark Flew at Flew Sails – main in 2019, genoa 2016 - so she is powerful and fast upwind and relaxed and fast off the wind. Her fastest point of sailing is a fetch, when she can easily hold 7kns in a force 3 to 4. This year (2026) she sailed from Ijmuiden (Holland) to Lowestoft, a distance of 104 miles in 14 hours at an average exceeding 7 kns. There is a large asymmetric, also from Flew, allowing her easy and fast reaching in winds up to 15kns. The symmetrical spinnaker hasn’t actually been out of the bag often as the other sails available give so many options.
There is a spinnaker pole attached to the front of the mast with a pulley system for easy one man handling. All running rigging included.
There are 3 matched pairs of Lewmar winches for ease of sail handling.
2 x 48 chromed Lewmar sheet winches
