I present you with a genuinely beautiful, hand-crafted widebeam with the option of its own home mooring only 45 minutes by train from London. Fitted out with the best quality hardwoods and appliances by a team of skilled tradesmen and conceived by myself, this boat has been turning heads ever since she was launched onto the Avon in late June 2019.
From a newly built sailaway, there has been one owner only. With the graphite grey and black trim coach paint still drying, it was designed, I’d like to believe, with originality, elegance, endurance and simplicity, adhering faithfully in style to Japanese clean lines and minimalism, classic American log cabin sturdiness, and Scandinavian ‘hygge’. From there, it was skilfully and creatively hand-built with the finest American white ash T&G (over 1 linear mile/15mm thick cabin walls), iroko, oak, and maple throughout by a hand-picked team of skilled craftsmen and tradesmen over an intensive 2-year period (Jan 2019-Xmas 2020). Throughout the boat, elegant lines run with loving attention to even the smallest details.
This really is a special home. And one that moves! Its styling is timeless, its sturdiness owes much to both the durable (and very expensive) materials used in its long construction, and the quality of craftsmanship that created lasting beauty from the bottom up.
This project would not have been remotely affordable had we started the build post pandemic and Ukraine war. Fortunately we completed the fit out soon after these cataclysmic events started to take hold of costs on imported building materials.
Ideal for bachelor, bachelorette, or couple, but being open-plan with the only bulkhead being the bathroom, this 55 m2 of commodious living space is probably unsuitable for more than two. Comes with West Berkshire garden mooring (he has given his blessing, but best to meet him first). Being on the Kennet, this mooring is exempt from CRT licensing, thus saving you £17,500 over a decade. If that's not appealing enough, the location is a 10-minute walk to the railway station to catch the GWR express to either Paddington (45mins) or Penzance (a bit longer). Beautiful Kintbury is a leisurely 2-hour boat trip from your mooring. Deepest Wiltshire around two days gentle cruisging; likewise, in the opposite direction, two days to the Thames through Reading. What more could you ask for? Remember what the wise mariner once said: from the outside all beautiful boats are equally beautiful. But it’s what’s on the inside that truly counts. Come see for yourself.
Immaculately maintained inside and out. Not a scratch. Capacious, and cushioned stern deck with lovely high-quality Titan all-weather canopy fitted only 15 months ago, plus acacia hardwood flooring fitted a month ago. Vetus 95 bow thruster, practically unused, but in need of new 165Ah Victron battery. Webasto TT EVO Marine 5 kw diesel heater, serving 3 evenly-spaced, powder-coated, black triple-columned radiators and hot towel rail, served by multi-layered composite piping system. Victron inverter. Designer fitted kitchen installed by a excellent Dutch craftsman. Engineered oak flooring. Superb bathroom suite with quadrant shower and home-standard glass partition screen. Beautifully designed for maximum feng shui and optimal ventilation. Spatially generous, and not at all restrictive and cramped. 400w of solar, but could improve trickle charge with more panels. Engine has done not even 900 hours. The boat has gone nowhere but to dry dock since October 2021. As new. No kidding.
All relevant paperwork, owner's manual, tex exemption, and deeds of ownership available in both paper and digital form. Jotun 2-packed in October 2022 to add to the 4 or so layers already, plus baseplate, blacked. Hull structure is heavily protected, but a hull survey could potentially be arranged. BSS examination undertaken and passed on 6th March 2025. and good for the next 4 years.
Expressions of interest can be directed to me in the first instance by email. From there I will share my phone number if you wish to take interest further by talking to me. I understand that showboats stir a passing interest in people just to step inside to get the wow factor. But, as i am away overseas and elsewhere in Britain quite regularly, I really would be thankful for serious interest with the asking price in mind.
